Gringo Says Go: Thalassa, Goa

If i were to pick ONE single restaurant in all of Goa, Thalassa would have to be it.

From the very first time i discovered it in 2010, i fell i love with this authentic Greek gastronomic +ย cultural delight.

The brainchild of the very affable self-made chef and hotelier Mariketty Grana, Thalassa started as a humble little stall at the famous Saturday Nite Market in North Goa, 8 years ago. Mariketty came to Goa as a kid and like anyone who’s a regular, soon got enamored by it’s warmth and beauty and decided to stay back. Initially she would sell her delectable rolls at the flea market and at a small shop in Chapora, “Mariketty’s”.

As word and the aroma of her cooking spread, she expanded and moved to the cliffside seafront of Vagator’s Ozran (Vazrant) beach.

Coming from a family with a hospitality background, it took her no time to increase production and efficiency, while retaining her signature warmth and ‘Greek village’ ambiance. The patrons, the celebrities and the investors kept coming by the hordes. This prompted the property to improve further and they moved 2 places to it’s currentย landmark location.

Serving THE most authentic Greek cuisine, Thalassa operates all through Goa business season (November – May, closed in the rains).

They also have beautiful cottages to shack up in, which are way more reasonable than some of the outrageously priced properties in the vicinity, especially given the gorgeous setting and the fresh aromas and pleasant ambiance of the place.

Do not miss: sangria, baklava andย Mariketty’s personal favorite strawberry daiquiri.

For the full menu and more details, check out their official website.

OPEN for business, as of 1st October 2016
